Neerja recorded the second highest worldwide total of the year so far though the year has only seen around 10 main releases. The top five Worldwide opening weekends of 2016 are as follows
2. Neerja - 40 crore
3. Wazir - 38.25 crore
4. Ghayal Once Again - 28.50 crore
5. Fitoor - 26.50 crore
Comparing with last year the figures would be the 19th highest and similar to films like Drishyam and Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon as far as opening weekend business Worldwide is concerned.
First Monday [Actuals]
Neerja had a good hold on Monday with collections falling 22% from Friday. The first weekend business of Neerja is as follows
Friday - 4,50,00,000
Saturday - 7,50,00,000
Sunday - 9,75,00,000
Monday - 3,50,00,000
Total - 25,25,00,000
The film will gross 33-34 crore nett in the first week and should have a good run in the main cities over the next 3-4 weeks. Outside the main cities the film has not fared too well.
